An open source inkjet color printer with a nozzle built from the ground up!
(Chowder Hardware Works-Inkjet Printer 8 Nozzle-27 gauge precision nozzles-experimental)
Printhead: PX8-20H-01
Manufacturer: Chowder INC
DPI: 1.5
yes i love naming things annoyingly
The CHW-IP8-27G-EXP is an inkjet color printer that can print at really bad dpi! But it does work! and i'm not using other people's nozzles, as I built my own from scratch!
Here are the .stp files (THEY NEED TO BE PRINTED SEPARATELY) because stardance doesn't like .stl's
If you would like to recreate what I have done, use these files, or check out the .stls below if you would prefer them
I know a lot of the parts may break, especially the nozzles which can be faulty, but you should be able to find replacement bits for almost anything below. These are all in stl format btw.
Older models of most of the parts can be found in the cad folder. However, it is NOT recommended to use them. Please use the newest model (V4.5 for the nozzle, V1 for the printhead and V1 for the manifold).
This project was fit for a Bambu Labs A1 Mini, and a 0.4MM nozzle, but I assume it will work on anything else.
The PX8-20H-01 contains 8 piezoelectric discs that move forward and backwards under high voltage, causing a membrane to push a tiny ink droplet out onto a page, hence the name - inkjet. A motor in the CHW-IP8-27G moves the PX8-20H-01 back and forth, meaning it can print anywhere on a page using its nozzles. It is 1.5 DPI
The logo was designed by me, and it has a pretty cool story!
I was originally going for a cool spiral sort of logo, where i made a bunch of circles that get increasingly smaller and change between black and white, but in canva, I highlighted the centre circle, and noticed that the select box looked warped for some reason. It reminded me of this optical illusion so i just stuck with it, and now it is the logo!
You can order the pcb from anywhere, but here are the files you'll need
You actually don't need most of these, just the gerber files for manufacturing. To buy the parts you'll need to solder on to the board, check out the BOM.csv
