Description

KiCad Electroncis Hardware. A 2xAA Battery or USB-C powered IR sensor bar compatible with the Nintendo Wii and Wii-U.

README

Wii Sensor

A 2xAA Battery or USB-C powered IR sensor bar compatible with the Nintendo Wii and Wii-U. The PCB can be broken off at the perforation and then the width of the bar extended by soldering wires onto the test points; this allows for better performance on larger TVs. The constant current drivers for the IR LEDs have potentiometers that can adjust the LED brightness, lower for extended battery operation or higher for bright sunlit rooms. The power switch toggles from battery power to USB-C power. A red LED will light up when on battery power.

Ordering Parts

PCB

You can upload Wii-Sensor.kicad_pcb directly to Oshpark. Or you can use the gerbers at \outputs\Wii-Sensor-1.0.0\PCB\Wii-Sensor-1.0.0-GBR.zip to upload to PCBWay. Board dimensions (19mm x 236mm) and stackup are on the User.Comments layer.

PCA

The part footprints have extended pad sizes to allow for easier hand soldering, but it is also compatible with a stencil and solder paste. BOM is located in /outputs/Wii-Sensor-1.0.0/PCA/Wii Sensor Bar-1.0.0-BOM.csv. Parts are currently all available in small quantities from Digikey. Use /outputs/Wii-Sensor-1.0.0/PCA/Wii Sensor Bar-1.0.0_ibom.html as a guide when assembling.

You can contract order fully assembled board from Macrofab
