SuPretendo Jr

Open Source Hardware reproduction of the late model SNES (often referred to as the "model 2" or "Jr") main board.

This project aims to recreate the original hardware as accurately as possible. Changes to accomodate modern parts where the originals are no longer available may be included. Further modifications such as video output restoration or digital audio output are possible, but will not be included in the master branch of this repository. Such modifications will only be made in separate branches or forks.

This project also includes detailed 3D models of several unique mechanical components such as connectors and switches, to aid in future preservation efforts that may involve recreating those parts. It does not include models of the console shell, as that is beyond my current modeling capabilities.

Future Improvements

• Identify potential BOM substitutions for parts such as the input filter, power switch, etc.
• Document international assembly variants
• Add traces and components to restore RGB Video, S-Video, and CSync output
• Identify a better match for the PCB reference designator silkscreen font
• Finish modeling the remaining mechanical parts (controller port connectors, cartridge slot connector, etc)
• Convert all component 3D models to VRML, with proper, consistent material properties
