Line-Follower-Analog-Kicad-Design

An Analog Line Follower Robot is a mobile robot designed to follow a predefined path—usually a black line on a white surface or the reverse—by using analog electronic signals rather than digital processing with a microcontroller. This type of robot is widely used in education because it clearly demonstrates the fundamentals of analog electronics and basic control systems.
Working Principle
The robot operates using light-based sensors, most commonly Light Dependent Resistors (LDRs) or infrared (IR) sensors. White surfaces reflect more light, while black lines absorb more light.
This difference in reflected light produces varying analog voltage levels at the sensor output. These voltages are then processed directly or compared using a comparator circuit. Based on the difference between the left and right sensors, the robot adjusts the speed of its motors. If the robot starts drifting off the line, one motor slows down or stops, causing the robot to steer back onto the path.
There is no programming involved. The robot’s behavior emerges purely from the interaction between sensors, electrical signals, and motors.
