README

Signal Generator

A compact signal generator (sinus, triangle, square) with tunable frequency project implemented in C with a custom PCB. This repo contains the firmware, PCB files and a project report describing the design, implementation and test results.

What it is

This project generates configurable test signals for electronics development and lab use. It includes:

  • Firmware written in main.c that drives the signal generation functionality.
  • PCB design files in the final_kicad/ folder (schematic and PCB).
  • A project report (report.pdf) with design notes, measurements and results.

How it was made

The firmware was developed in C and compiled for the target microcontroller (see main.c). The hardware was designed in KiCad; the produced files are in final_kicad/ and can be opened with KiCad 6+. The project report documents component choices, schematics, PCB layout decisions, and validation measurements.

Files of interest

  • main.c — firmware entrypoint and signal generation logic.
  • final_kicad/pcb_applied.kicad_sch — KiCad schematic.
  • final_kicad/pcb_applied.kicad_pcb — KiCad PCB layout.
  • report.pdf — project report with measurements and discussion.

Quick start

  1. Open final_kicad/* in KiCad to review the schematic and board.
  2. Build/flash the firmware by compiling main.c with the appropriate toolchain for your MCU (toolchain and exact commands depend on the target MCU used; see report.pdf for details).
  3. Assemble the PCB from the Gerbers or order from a board house.
